Iowa Dental Association Annual Session 2016
The Iowa Dental Association held the annual session in Des Moines, IA from May 5th to May 7th at the Iowa Events Center. The meeting provided opportunity for Muscatine Pediatric Dentist Dr. Jarod Johnson to network with dental professionals and attend continuing education courses. Dr. Jarod attended courses on restorative dentistry and interceptive orthodontics in addition to visiting table clinics hosted by dental assistants, lab technicians, dental students, residents, and dentists.
Dr. Jarod attended the following courses:
“Bottom Line Boosters: How Crown and Bridge and Composite Know-How’s Can Change Your Practice” -Dr. Timothy Bizga
Course Description: This course begins with describing the principles of preparation design and stresses the importance of thoughtful tooth preparation. A review of current concepts in tissues management and impressioning will be discussed. The focus then shifts to Class II restorative solutions and procedures. By course end, the audience will be able to select appropriate indirect materials and the glues we choose to use to hold them. Furthermore, attendees will be able utilize knowledge of the newest direct restorative materials to perform and restore more competently and efficiently. Clinical tips and brand suggestions will be included.
“Interceptive Orthodontics – The What, When, How & Why” – Dr. Brent Larson
Course Description: This course is designed to help the dentist make good decisions regarding interceptive orthodontic treatment for their patients. The program will include information about:
- Understanding the normal and recognizing the abnormal in mixed dentition development
- Determining whether a recognized orthodontic problem is stable or progressive
- Types of appliances that are predictable for correction of mixed dentition problems
- When orthodontic intervention is recommended for different types of problems
- Why early orthodontic treatment may be recommended in some situations and not in others
