Board Candidacy

Dr. Jarod has passed the 2015 Qualifying Exam given by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and has attained the status of Candidate.  The Qualifying Exam is the first step of two towards becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.  The final step in the process is the Oral Clinical Examination which takes place annually and Dr. Jarod will be eligible to take next fall.  Diplomate status is a high honor of the profession of Pediatric Dentistry.  The two examinations evaluate a Pediatric Dentist’s didactic knowledge as well as diagnostic and clinical decision making.

Dr. Jarod scored within the Top 20% in three of the eight domains.

  • Restorative dentistry oral rehabilitation (Dental materials, Oral surgery, Prosthetics, Esthetic dentistry, Operative dentistry)
  • Child development/behavior guidance (Physical, psychological, and social development, Principles of communication, Anxiety and pain control, Non-pharmacological behavior guidance, sedation and general anesthesia)
  • Pulp therapy/orofacial trauma (pulp biology and pathology, Indications and rationale for pulp therapy, Orofacial trauma, Soft tissue injuries, Child abuse and neglect)

Dr. Jarod has received advanced training in behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, trauma, special health care needs, interceptive orthodontics, space maintenance, oral hygiene, and dietary counseling. His energetic personality allows him to relate to kids on an individual level. He understands the importance of children having a positive dental experience and strives to provide the best care tailored to each child’s needs. Dr. Jarod enjoys educating children and their families on the importance of oral health so they can establish good habits for a lifetime of smiles. His goal is to develop relationships with each of his patients to establish a dental home that is welcoming from infancy through adolescence.
