This year the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry hosted its Annual Session in Chicago, IL. It is the premiere meeting for continuing education, professional development, networking, and social engagement for pediatric dentists.

Dr. Jarod was able to further his education by attending lectures. He was able to attend courses focused on team building, minimally invasive dentistry, leadership, social media, treatment of children with bleeding disorders, and management of sedation emergencies.

Dr. Jarod’s Learning Lab – Reaching the Apex: Placement of Apical Barriers (Apexification)

In addition to attending continuing education courses Dr. Jarod provided a lecture in the form of a Learning Lab on root canal treatment on under developed permanent teeth. The lecture focused on teaching colleges proper management and treatment of adult teeth needing root canal treatment. This was Dr. Jarod’s fourth consecutive year presenting at the AAPD Annual Session.

Dr. Jarod and his family attended the meeting. They were able to attend the welcome reception which was hosted by the AAPD at the Museum of Science and Industry. They enjoyed exploring Chicago by making visits to the Bean, Buckingham Fountain, Maggie Daily Park, and Shed Aquarium. Lydia and William’s favorite was Maggie Daily Park!

AAPD Committee for Membership

There were plenty of opportunities for networking. Dr. Jarod was appointed to serve on the Committee for Membership as a consultant. The committee made strategic plans for developing a course of action to continue a strong relationship with the members of the AAPD. Dr. Jarod also attended alumni receptions for the University of Iowa, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. He enjoyed reuniting with classmates and colleagues.

The next AAPD Annual Session will be May 21-24, 2020 in Nashville, Tenn. We look forward to another great meeting!

Dr. Jarod has received advanced training in behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, trauma, special health care needs, interceptive orthodontics, space maintenance, oral hygiene, and dietary counseling. His energetic personality allows him to relate to kids on an individual level. He understands the importance of children having a positive dental experience and strives to provide the best care tailored to each child’s needs. Dr. Jarod enjoys educating children and their families on the importance of oral health so they can establish good habits for a lifetime of smiles. His goal is to develop relationships with each of his patients to establish a dental home that is welcoming from infancy through adolescence.
