AAPD Annual Session 2017

Dr. Jarod attended the AAPD Annual Session 2017 in Washington, DC.  This was the fourth time Dr. Jarod has attended the annual session.  The meeting provides continuing education, networking opportunities, and professional development.

At the meeting Dr. Jarod was honored as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.  On September 19th, 2016 he passed the oral clinical examination and became a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist.  Board Certification is a voluntary process which candidates undergo rigorous examination.  Dr. Jarod is currently the only Board Certified Pediatric Dentist in private practice in Muscatine, IA.

Dr. Jarod was a presenter two days at the meeting.  He spoke in the String of Pearls for the second straight year, and gave a forty five minute presentation on the use of a dental material in the MiniClinic Session.

Dr. Jarod attended the following continuing education courses:

  • Sedation: What’s New? Local Anesthesia Review and What’s New
  • Mini Clinics II (various presenters)
  • String of Pearls (various presenters)

He was also able to attend social events hosted by his alma maters, The University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics, and The University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Jarod has received advanced training in behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, trauma, special health care needs, interceptive orthodontics, space maintenance, oral hygiene, and dietary counseling. His energetic personality allows him to relate to kids on an individual level. He understands the importance of children having a positive dental experience and strives to provide the best care tailored to each child’s needs. Dr. Jarod enjoys educating children and their families on the importance of oral health so they can establish good habits for a lifetime of smiles. His goal is to develop relationships with each of his patients to establish a dental home that is welcoming from infancy through adolescence.
