AAPD Annual Session 2016

Dr. Jarod attended the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Annual Session (AAPD 2016) in San Antonio, TX over the Memorial Day weekend.  The annual meeting provides time for the Academy to provide continuing education, develop oral health policy, advocacy policy for the profession, and collaboration between colleagues.

In addition to attending the meeting Dr. Jarod presented in the String of Pearls Session.  This is the second time Dr. Jarod has presented at a Pediatric Dentistry meeting.  His presentation covered new developments in materials that can be used to maintain pulp (nerve) health and prevent root canal treatment in teeth that have had trauma or decay in children.  His presentation was well received by dentists in attendance.

Dr. Jarod attended the following continuing education courses:

  • Group Therapy: Team Support, Challenging Parents and Full Moons!
  • Face Time- What Every Pediatric Dentist Needs to Know: Clinically Applied Facial Growth and Development
  • Laser Frenotomy for Treatment of Ankyloglossia and Maxillary Lip Tie
  • String of Pearls (various presenters)

The UNLV School of Dental Medicine Deparatment of Pediatric Dentistry also held a reception in San Antonio.  Alumni and residents were able to interact, and were provided a t-shirt by Arctic Dental that was “Made in Muscatine” at Phelps The Uniform Specialists.

Dr. Jarod has received advanced training in behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, trauma, special health care needs, interceptive orthodontics, space maintenance, oral hygiene, and dietary counseling. His energetic personality allows him to relate to kids on an individual level. He understands the importance of children having a positive dental experience and strives to provide the best care tailored to each child’s needs. Dr. Jarod enjoys educating children and their families on the importance of oral health so they can establish good habits for a lifetime of smiles. His goal is to develop relationships with each of his patients to establish a dental home that is welcoming from infancy through adolescence.
